The Journey
From the Courtroom to the Community
Mrinal Madhav was born in Barahiya, Lakhisarai district, Bihar — a region where the distance between a person and their legal rights can feel insurmountable. His early education at Col. Brown Cambridge School and The Doon School gave him a rigorous academic foundation; a five-year integrated law programme in New Delhi gave him the tools. What he brought to both was a sense of purpose that no institution could teach.
Today, he practises as an Advocate before the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court, with a practice spanning civil and commercial litigation, criminal law, arbitration, constitutional matters, and corporate advisory work. He has been appointed Local Commissioner and Arbitrator by the Delhi High Court, trained as a Mediator at the Delhi High Court Mediation & Conciliation Centre, and serves as a Co-opted Member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Bar Council of Delhi. His clients include individuals, corporations, and multinational entities — including French companies operating in India.
But the courtroom has never been the whole story. In 2018, Mrinal co-founded the MaMri Foundation with his partner Marie Chanel Gillier — an initiative to empower women and girls in rural Bihar through digital education, scholarships, career counselling, and health camps. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the foundation mobilised relief networks across multiple cities. Beyond the foundation, Mrinal actively engages in public discourse on the EWS framework, reservation policy, access to justice, and gender-neutral legal reform — through campaigns, coalitions, and community forums across Bihar and Delhi.
